Inclement Weather Procedures

Blue Flag Days

On school days when the weather is extreme and students' health and safety are in jeopardy, blue flags will be displayed at the front doors and from a tetherball pole at the back of the school. The blue flags signify that students should enter the school building immediately thru their classroom doors. Remember, students should not arrive on school grounds before 8:45 a.m.

Weather Closure

In the event of questionable weather involving severe ice, deep snow or poor visibility, Jeffco school district follows a clearly defined procedure for deciding whether to close schools. School officials contact a network of individuals and agencies throughout the county, including police departments, road crews and the state highway department, to learn road conditions before deciding whether schools should be closed.

If officials decide to close schools, they will relay the announcement to the radio and television stations listed above as quickly as possible. Conditions on mountain and foothill roads may require that schools be closed only in the western part of the county. This information will be provided to radio and television stations as well. EMERGENCY CLOSURES will be announced over the SCHOOL MESSENGER service provided by our school district. Please do not call the main office to check and see if there is school.

Additional radio stations will be notified as well. Parents may also call the Jeffco Public Schools' information hotline, 303-982-6600, which will announce closures by 6 a.m., or access http://www.jeffcopublicschools.org/about/calendars/closures. The list of school closures for Jeffco is also on our school website under Jeffco Quick Links—School Closures: http://www.jeffcopublicschools.org/about/calendars/closures
