CMAS/CoAlt Family Resources

The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) annually implements state tests called the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS).  CMAS English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies assessments were developed to measure proficiency of the Colorado Academic Standards.

Parents of students who take the CMAS assessments receive individual student reports for their child's assessments. The resources below can provide assistance as you are looking at these results.

Information for families

These informational sheets from the Colorado Department of Education and Jeffco Public Schools are meant to answer some questions parents may have about the tests their children are about to take.

Families have a right to refuse participation in state assessments for their students.  Please contact your child’s school If you have questions about test refusals or the test refusal process.

Coalt/DLM

The Colorado Alternate assessment (COALT) and Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) are the alternate state summative assessments for students with an Individual Education Plan (IEP) who are working toward Extended Evidence Outcomes and do not take CMAS.

DLM is a standards-based assessment designed to provide a picture of student performance and a framework for students to access the general curriculum in English language arts and math. COALT measures student performance on Science and Social Studies.
